After a long crossing from the Libyan search and rescue region to Lampedusa, Trotamar III finally arrived early this morning: At 3 am, all 25 rescued people were able to step ashore safely.
We rescued these people on Monday morning from an unseaworthy rubber boat in which they were adrift at sea without a working engine or life jackets.
Unfortunately, setting foot on European soil is only the first step on a long journey through Europe’s inhumane asylum system. We wish all 25 people strength and encounters marked by solidarity along this journey!
