Sailing against fortress Europe

The Wendland sends a Ship!

Sailing

As we keep a lookout, we currently have favorable winds for setting our sails! With rising fuel prices, sailing is obviously a good option, but it’s also a complex craft and can be physically demanding. To ensure we’re fully prepared, we need to assess how much energy the crew should devote to sailing.

On this rotation, the crew brings a wealth of sailing experience and expertise to the table, which is why they get to use the ropes more often. Co-skipper Janusz his this to say on the topic: “I am very happy about the sailing, I love to do it. After one year break it is fantastic to sail again. The crew also is really fantastic. The only problem for me is, that so far we couldn’t bring impact/help to People on the Move. Hopefully we can do something and be useful in the coming days, if there is any need arising.”

By the way, two of our sails are also brand new! They were made especially for the Trotamar III by the generous sailmaker Jens Burmester from CO-Segel. We are very grateful for that!

Many thanks also to SOS Mediterranee/Tess Barthes for the aerial shots of the Trotamar III!
