onight, on Tuesday evening, the crew of the Trotamar III spotted a boat in distress: 18 people on a rubber boat in the Tunisian-Maltese search and rescue zone. Without life jackets, the men were sitting tightly together on a boat, that had already lost air on one side.

Our crew swiftly supported them and distributed life jackets using the dinghy. The people had set out from Libya and are now all aboard the Trotamar III, en route to Lampedusa. From a medical standpoint, none of them are in any immediate danger, but they won’t be truly safe until they can go ashore.
