Trotamar III – 35 people rescued
Yesterday, the Trotamar III took 35 people on board and brought them safely to Lampedusa.
Since the morning hours, our sailing ship had been accompanying the fiberglass boat, whose engine had failed. Because wind and waves were getting stronger, the crew decided to take the people on board in the afternoon. The Trotamar III then set course for Lampedusa, where all the people were able to set foot on European soil at around 11 pm.
The Trotamar III is now moored in Lampedusa and is waiting for the winds to weaken. The crew is using the time to sort the rescue material and evaluate the events of yesterday so that they can sail out onto the central Mediterranean Sea again as soon as possible.
