Trotamar III is back in Licata!
We are back in the port of Licata. The crew has been through an exciting and exhausting time: Last weekend we found and assisted two boats in distress at sea who were picked up shortly afterwards by the Aita Mari @maydayteraneo.
Last Sunday, with air support from @hpswiss / seawatch, our crew found another boat in distress: 27 people in a fiberglass boat whose engine had failed. In the increasing waves, our crew took all the people on board the Trotamar III and set course for Lampedusa. With winds of up to 30 knots and waves up to 3 meters high, crew and People on the Move endured a very strenuous crossing until everyone was finally able to set foot safely on European soil.
After the crew waited out the bad weather, recovered a little and and tidied up the boat, the Trotamar III set sail again and was able to assist 60 more people in distress until they were rescued by the Italian coastguard.
The Trotamar III is now being prepared in the port of Licata for the next deployment. The crew ends their deployment with a psychological and organizational debriefing. In just a week, our new crew will already arrive to prepare for our next deployment on the Mediterranean Sea.
