Two days ago the Trotamar III has left the port of Lampedusa and is now sailing out onto the central Mediterranean Sea. Now the crew begins to look out for boats in distress, which are not easy to spot between the waves on the horizon.
The day bevore yesterday evening, the crew already found an empty boat: A small, blue wooden boat whose occupants were presumably rescued by the Italian coastguard.
Our current deployment will take four weeks instead of three. This gives the trained crew more time to be present on the water and support people who flee across the sea.
The Mediterranean Sea is still one of the most dangerous escape routes in the world. We need safe escape routes and freedom of movement for everyone!
