Free Trotamar III!
Our boat Trotamar III has been detained by the Italian authorities on Lampedusa. The reason? We rescued 22 people last weekend without informing the so-called Libyan coast guard.
This did not happen accidentally. In pullbacks the Libyans are dragging refugees back to the Lybian shore. There, they enslave, abuse and imprison them under inhumane conditions. Informing the so-called Libyan coast guard about a distress call is neither compatible with applicable law nor with our conscience.
Now, our ready-made sailing boat with a trained crew of 6 is detained on Lampedusa – while people continue drowning in the Mediterranean Sea.
We demand: Release Trotamar III immediately! #FreeTrotamarIII
