Our sailing boat TROTAMAR III is used for three-week observation deployments, during which we document human rights violations, keep an eye out for maritime emergencies and assist in rescue missions by larger (rescue) ships. Detention
The Trotamar III is being prohibited from leaving the port of Lampedusa. We demand its immediate release! After rescuing 18 people, whom we brought ashore on the Italian island on Wednesday, the authorities informed us that the Trotamar III has been detained. Tonight, on Tuesday evening, the crew of the Trotamar III spotted a boat in distress: 18 people on a rubber boat in the Tunisian-Maltese search and rescue zone. Without life jackets, the men were sitting tightly together on a boat, that had already lost air on one side. Our crew swiftly supported them and distributed
