UPDATE 2024/03/14, 10pm – TROTAMAR III – ALL PEOPLE ARE RESCUED BY COASTGUARD
After hours of anxiously waiting for help for the 56 people in distress at sea and with no response from the responsible state authorities, a spotlight suddenly appeared on the horizon. It was a rescue ship of the Italian Coast Guard (Guardia Costiera), which took the refugees safely on board.
We would like to thank everyone involved in this rescue, including Alarmphone and Seawatch Airborne. We wish the people on the move all the best for the rest of their journey.
Our support for people on the move continues now. We sail for freedom of movement for all, against Fortress Europe. Our deployments are financed by donations. Can you help make the next deployment possible? Donate here: https://compass-collective.org/#spenden
UPDATE 2024/03/14, 9pm – TROTAMAR III – CALL FOR HELP
Emil on board the TROTAMAR III reports on the current situation in the Mediterranean. We have already sent out four distress calls, but contact with the rescue coordination centers is very difficult. We have been stabilizing an unmaneuverable boat in distress with 56 people on board since 4pm. So far, no one feels responsible for rescuing the refugees, who have been on the Mediterranean for two days in an unseaworthy rubber dinghy. There is a system to this! Three large rescue ships (SEA-EYE, SEAWATCH, HUMANITY-1) have currently been detained due to fabricated allegations – and thus shut down for political reasons.
