TROTAMAR III – STARTING A NEW DEPLOYMENT
Our new crew has arrived in Licata on July 13th. Adam, Astrid, Tabea, Theresa and Teun will join skipper Matthias on the Trotamar III for the fifth mission in 2024 and support the civilian sea rescue in the Mediterranean Sea during the upcoming weeks.
The crew has already started to prepare on the ship and completed their first dinghy training today. They are practising various rescue scenarios that the crew members could also encounter later on sea.
The day before yesterday, in the evening the Trotamar III left the port of Licata in Sicily and set course for Lampedusa. From there, the crew will sail towards the SAR zones in the central Mediterranean Sea over the next few days to support civilian sea rescue. On board the Trotamar III is an extensive range of rescue equipment with which the crew can come to the aid of people in distress at sea.
UPDATE 2024/07/18 – TROTAMAR III – SAR-TRAININGS
The Trotamar III is now anchored off the coast of Lampedusa. In the anchorage bay, the crew has once again carried out trainings in order to be prepared for possible rescue scenarios. They practiced the dinghy’s launch manoeuvre as well as various possible uses of the dinghy, such as the delivery of life jackets.
During the deployment, the crew uses the dinghy to make contact with people in distress at sea, supply them with life jackets or drinking water and, in an emergency, also bring people on board the Trotamar III.
