Preperations in Licata
Before we set sail, our sailing boat, the Trotamar III, has to be prepared for the deployment. Yesterday, for example, our crew in Sicily installed a fresh water pump, worked on the solar panels and installed a new AIS device (a device for receiving and sending ship data). But it’s not just the technical equipment that needs to be ready – the medical equipment and food supplies were also checked.
On the boat, each crew member has a specific task and their own area of responsibility. At the same time, they work closely with the other five people on board. This organization helps them to act professionally and quickly, especially in stressful situations. They have experience in their respective fields (e.g. as emergency paramedics, in public relations or for cooking at sea) and want to make a contribution to sea rescue.
If you would like to take part in a Trotamar III deployment yourself, please register using the crewing form
